The purpose of the Student Discipline Court (SDC) is to provide students with an alternate discipline assignment to the punishment given by the administration by means of a student jury. In order to opt to attend SDC, the student accused of the offense, the transgressor, must have received a disciplinary referral and obtain parental consent to proceed with the SDC. Upon the administrator’s discretion, the transgressor may be given the option to attend SDC for an alternate punishment. Once opting to participate in the student court, students are expected to attend their hearing and are required to accept the alternative punishment selected by the court. Information about the SDC regarding the procedures of the court can be found on the Freedom High School website www.lcps.org/fhs
*Student Discipline Court does not handle Level 3 infractions; they are handled by the administration and members of the school board. These infractions include: tobacco, alcohol abuse, drugs, medications, and weapons.
