ELL at Newton Lee Elementary
At Newton Lee Elementary there is a morning ELL Kindergarten class. These students have lunch at school and then attend afternoon Kindergarten in a p.m. class. The first through fifth grade ELL students remain in their classrooms while Mrs. Bullock or the ELL Assistant, Mrs. Yoon, assist them with reading, writing and grade level content(social studies, science, or math). Students receive individual or small group instruction as the need arises throughout the year. The instruction in the ELL classroom focuses on improving skills in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing in English while learning content and new vocabulary. In addition, students are taught about the culture of their classmates, Virginia, and the United States.
