Academic Clubs

 DECA, An Association for Marketing Students.  Marketing plays a big role in our economy; therefore it is essential for today's student consumers to understand how marketing affects their everyday purchases.  Each day DECA students around the world are preparing for their regional and state competitions through written events, chapter work and school based enterprises.

Freedom DECA Officers and members are working hard everyday to form a strong and dominate chapter.  Many new additions have been made to the chapter, among the most popular-- is the Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Program.  The Perch offers a variety of fresh baked cookies and soft pretzels each day after school.  The profits from this fundraiser help to fund charitable donations, offset competitive event costs and fund scholarships for DECA students.

Anyone interested in the marketing program at Freedom High School should contact Freedom’s DECA advisors, Mrs. Smidt at laura.smidt@lcps.org  or Mrs. Otto at krystal.otto@lcps.org In addition, feel free to stop by the Perch to speak with the marketing students who manage and operate the school store.
 
Mrs. Otto and Mrs. Smidt want to thank all DECA students who submitted applications to be on the DECA Executive Board.  After careful consideration the following students have been appointed to the 2013/2014 DECA Executive Board:
