- Mr. Shannon's Biography

Mr. Shannon started his teaching career in 1995 in Howard County, Maryland, where he worked for six years. While working for Howard County Public Schools, he taught kindergarten, first and second grades. In 2001, Mr. Shannon moved to Montgomery County (Maryland) and spent 4 years teaching second and third grades as well as spending one year as a reading support teacher. During his year as a reading support teacher, Mr. Shannon taught first, fourth and fifth grade language arts.
Mr. Shannon taught at Round Hill Elementary from 2005 to 2014, where he taught second grade for six years and fourth grade for three years! During summer break, Mr. Shannon taught computer applications courses to elementary school students for a program called "Kids On Campus" at Howard Community College, in Columbia, Maryland. He worked for the program every summer from 2001 to 2008. During the summer of 2009, he taught the same classes at the "Kids On Campus" program at Frederick Community College.
In 2014, Mr. Shannon came to Catoctin as a librarian. The Catoctin Elementary Library went through many changes during Mr. Shannon's first year at the school. During the summer of 2015, the Catoctin Elementary Library was renovated and new furniture was added to the library. In 2015-2016, the Catoctin Elementary PTA donated Kindles and a Kindle Cart! Mr. Shannon used the Kindles to teach students how to checkout and use eBooks on MackinVia!
Mr. Shannon likes to ride bikes, kayak and go camping. He is also a player in the Frederick Men's Hockey League. In addition to enjoying watching his son, Will, play hockey and lacrosse, he enjoys watching his daughter, Emily, dance at Tari Jo's Dance Studio and on the Jefferson High School Charisma Dance team!
