Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to Arcola Elementary School. I am very excited to begin my sixth year at Arcola Elementary and I am committed to making your child's experience special. As a staff we strive to develop a positive relationship with every child to ensure that they love school and feel safe as learners. We are also committed to providing a rigorous curriculum, utilzing best teaching practices, and actively engaging every child so that our students can acheive at their individual level. Our students, parents, and community value education and it will be our goal for 2012-13 to help our children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Currently, I am entering my twenty-fourth year in education. I graduated from James Madison University with a degree in music and taught music at the high school, middle school, and elementary levels for twelve years. I also teach "School Climate" and "Finance" courses as an adjunct professor at Shenandoah University. Prior to opening Arcola, I served as assistant principal of Sterling Elementary School for three years and served as principal of Sully Elementary School for three years. My wife teaches kindergarten in Loudoun County and my children, ages 17 and 12, are students in Loudoun County. We count ourselves fortunate that they can learn and grow in this wonderful community. Banjo, our golden retreiver and P.J., our school mascot (she's a bearded dragon), complete our family.

Our school motto is, "Today's dreamers, tomorrow's achievers".
