Meet Mrs. Broaddus, Principal
Greetings Mountain View Community, my name is Jill Broaddus and I am proud to be the principal of this great school. I joined MTV in November of 2013. Prior to joining the MTV Staff, I spent 11 year at Cool Spring Elementary in Leesburg as an administrator (3 years as AP and 7 as principal). Before going into administration, I was a teacher in Frederick County, VA. I taught middle school math for 6 years and a 4th grade for four years. Prior to teaching I received my BS in Elementary Education from Gannon University in Erie, PA and my MEd from Edinboro in Edinboro, PA. Once I started my teaching career I attended George Mason University for my Administration Certificate.
To get to know me better, here is a little about my life. I grew up in Erie, PA the youngest of 7 children. I moved to Virginia in August of 1992 to begin my career in Education. I am happily married and have an adorable dog named Trapper! I am a very proud Aunt of 13 nephews and nieces and 16 great nephews and nieces! And that is just my side of the family! When I am not working I love spending time with my family, reading and scrapbooking.
School was not my “thing” when I was young, and at times struggled with my academics. I think I decided early on that I wanted to go into education to make school a better place for all learners. To this day I strive to create a school where all students, staff and parents enjoy walking into each day. I feel it is important for students to feel safe and welcome in their classrooms and feel comfortable taking risks and going that extra mile when needed. Elementary is the foundation for a lifelong of learning. We have the opportunity as elementary teachers and staff to create a strong foundation where students will enjoy learning and want to continue their education for years.
Along with academics, at Mountain View we strive to teach kindness, manners and respect. Our entire PBIS behavior system is based on Respecting Yourself, Property and Others. Students are encouraged to use manners and demonstrate kindness and respect to others. We are more than just a community of educators and learners, we are a family at Mountain View!
