Principal’s Notes
Hello Thunderbolts! It is that time of year to shed the winter coats, put on short sleeves, and start to enjoy the warmer weather. As we return from Spring Break and begin the 4th quarter of school it is time to look to the schedule for all of the academic and extracurricular activities to come. We have a lot on our calendar, including our student-faculty basketball game on April 5th at 7 pm at Dominion HS, our spring musical Sleepy Hollow-A Musical Tale which was moved to April 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th at 7:00 pm, and our Spring Carnival on May 31st. We also have numerous chorus and band concerts in May and June, and I recommend that you take time to attend at least one to see what a year of practice and hard work sounds like.
Students will have SOL testing in May and Final Exams for high school credit classes June 3rd through June 6th. Please schedule any time off accordingly and remind your student to get plenty of rest and to start their morning off with a good breakfast to be at their best for school and testing. Keep looking at the teachers’ websites for test dates and other assignments so your student stays up to date.
Congratulations to the 8th and 7th grade Odyssey of the Mind teams on a job well done for placing 1st (8th grade) and 2nd (7th grade) in the March 2nd competition at Park View HS. The 8th grade team moves on to participate in the Virginia State competition on April 13th. We wish them the best of luck in the competition!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents who have volunteered their valuable time for Seneca Ridge this year. Your time, energy and hard work have certainly contributed to our school’s success. Thank you! To show our appreciation, you are invited to join us on April 25th for a Volunteer Breakfast. Details for the time and RSVP information are on page 3. We look forward to seeing all of you here.
Finally, you are invited to the last Principal’s Coffee of the year on April 9th at 9 am. There will be a presentation on Library Technologies and a discussion about our Advisory Group (Storm). The topics will be well worth your time, so please plan to attend.
