Welcome to Physical Education with Mr. Curtis The Loudoun County Elementary Physical Education Curriculum is a developmental program designed to enhance student confidence in movement, balance, fine and gross motor control,and general physical strength. The physical education specialist teaches Physical Education three days per week for 30 minutes. The classroom teacher strives to make use of skills and/orgame activities two days per week as they are implemented by the physical education specialist. The Physical Education Standards of Learning identify the five strands listed below. 1. Skilled Movement Students will demonstrate proficiency in all fundamental movement skills and patterns and competence in several specialized movement forms. 2. Movement Principles and Concepts Students will apply movement principles and concepts to learning and developing motor skills and specialized movement forms. 3. Personal Fitness Students will achieve and maintain a health enhancing level of personal fitness. 4. Responsible Behaviors Students will demonstrate appropriate personal and social behaviors in physical activity settings. 5. Physically Active Lifestyle Students will demonstrate a physically active lifestyle, including activity within and outside of the physical education setting.
