Ongoing Evaluation and Revision Schedule
From the beginning of Virginia’s school reform initiative, the Board of Education has recognized the need for an ongoing process of evaluation and revision. In September 2000, the board approved the following schedule in keeping with the legislature’s desire that the Standards of Learning in each subject area undergo review at least once every seven years.

Testing & Standards of Learning (SOL)

Released Tests

VDOE releases sample sets of Standards of Learning (SOL) tests that were administered to Virginia public school students during the previous spring test administration. The released tests are not inclusive of all SOL tests administered during the previous year; however, the tests are representative of the content and skills assessed.

Released tests also are available in the online format through VDOE’s Electronic Practice Assessment Tool (ePAT)

Notes

  • These files are a form of the tests that students across the Commonwealth of Virginia took as part of the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Assessments. The test questions are representative of the content and skills included in the Virginia SOL tests and are provided to help you understand the format of the tests and questions. The answer to each question can be found in the back of each test booklet.
  • The size of the questions on the computer screen is not the same size as the actual test. Use the magnifying glass icon (zoom tool) to make a test question larger on the screen for easier reading.
  • The released tests include many complicated graphics and some printers may experience trouble with printing. If you experience difficulty printing or viewing, visit: Adobe's Troubleshoot Printing Problems page.
