Substitute Application Process
Substitutes are important to the success of the total school program and are expected to perform in place of the regularly scheduled employee as directed by the school principal or administrator. It is important that all substitutes carry out all duties assigned to facilitate the instructional process and to provide for a safe, educationally productive environment in the classroom, the school or the workplace.
To become a substitute for Loudoun County Public Schools, you must complete a 3-step process sequentially.
Step 1: Complete an online application
Step 2: Complete online training and assessment (STEDI)*
Step 3: Attend a Substitute Orientation and Paperwork Session
*NOTE: SubCentral will notify the applicant via e-mail as to the next step once the applicant completes the on-line training and assessment, and scores 85 or higher. If you hold the following teaching credentials you are exempt from the SubSkills assessment: Current or Expired Virginia or Out of State Teaching License Current Virginia or Out of State Provisional License Current Conditional License Current Letter of Eligibility A copy of your credentials will be necessary in order to complete the substitute process. SubCentral will contact you via email for the next step in the application process. Please be sure to indicate on your application that you hold a teaching license. If you have previously completed an on-line application, you must complete the pre-employment questionnaire.
