Legacy has three art teachers this year.  Ms. Ajima, Mr. Maier, and Ms. henry will be teaching art to students in grades 1-5.  Mrs. Ajima teaches five classes in first grade on Thursday and her home school  is Sterling Elementary. Mr. Maier teaches two classes in first and three classes in second grades on Friday, and his home school is Sugarland Elementary.  Ms. Henry teaches all fifth, fourth, third, and some second grade classes.

Students in grades 1-5 will have art once a week for 50 minutes.  An art project often takes about 2-4 weeks (2-4 hours) to complete.   Students will learn about the art history as well as the art making process.  They will make ceramic projects, paintings, and drawings by exploring different techniques and media.

Fifth grade students will keep most of their art works in their art porfolios in school until June 2013.  Students in grades 1-4 will take their art projects home throughout the school year.

Begin in October, two students will be selected to be Legacy's “Artists of the month.”  The students’ art works will be displayed on the bulletin board in the art room for a month.  Then they will be moved to the principal’s office to hang for another month.

We are looking forward to another successful year working with your children!
