The elementary music curriculum consists of a well-planned sequence of developmentally appropriate experiences leading to clearly defined musical skills and knowledge. As a singing-centered program it is designed to actively involve all students. The program focuses on four areas: singing, listening, movement, and playing instruments. Technology enrichment is also provided through use of the Music Ace computer program, Promethean activities, and software which accompanies our text series. Students in grades 1 through 5 attend music class two times each week for thirty minute periods. Various programs and performance opportunities are available throughout the year, as well as opportunities to see live performances.
