Welcome to Sugarland Elementary School, home of Wildcat Pride!
The Faculty and Staff of Sugarland Elementary School believe that education is a life-long process in which the school plays an integral part. The atmosphere of the school should be one in which each child receives a maximum opportunity for the development of basic skills, positive attitudes, and good habits which foster a knowledge and understanding of himself/herself, others, and society in general. Each child must be prepared to meet situations in school and life in a effective, intelligent, and confident manner.
We believe that each child is an individual, possessing different abilities, learning styles, and educational needs. We also believe that the child is the focal point of all learning activities. Therefore, it is the school's goal to instill a desire for learning and to develop individual talents so that each student reaches his/her potential.
Sugarland Elementary School combines structure, guidance, and discipline, while also allowing freedom within the structure. We are committed to open communication between teachers, administrators, parents, children, and community. Through this dialog we can work together so that the programs at our school facilitate the growth of our children intellectually, emotionally, morally, and socially. Thus, a child can face the future with a combination of curiosity and confidence, resulting in a positive attitude toward learning and life.
As our society and community change, so will the needs of our children. It is our responsibility to recognize these changes and to be flexible in dealing with them. At the same time, we must not lose sight of our ultimate goal which is the development of well-rounded individuals with a sound foundation of basic skills in all of the academic and social areas.
By the time a child leaves Sugarland Elementary, we believe he/she should have developed concepts and skills which will enable him/her to be successful at the next level in the educational process and throughout his/her life.
