Ms. Hassinger |
Hello! My name is Karen Hassinger and I am the art specialist at Rosa Lee Carter. I am excited to be teaching for a seventh year at such a wonderful school! I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art from the University of Mary Washington. I have taught in many states: Florida, Virginia, Texas and Hawaii. I have also taught in Bermuda as well as for DODS in Germany. Before teaching in Loudoun County, I taught middle school and elementary school in Prince William County for 6 years. After transferring to Loudoun County, I taught at Little River ES in South Riding for three years. I then transferred to RLC. I am the mother of four boys. My oldest, who has a degree in information systems, splits his time between here and China. My second son, a graduate of Tech, lives and works outside of D.C. He also attends law school at George Mason. His wife is a critical care nurse. My third son finished college and is working in the computer tech field. My fourth son, Joshua, is still in school. He is the proud owner of a new puppy, Kenji. Kenji keeps us busy! We live in Leesburg and enjoy it very much! Parents, besides being an art teacher, I am also an artist. Your child will be learning lots about creativity. They will be encouraged to experiment. Art is essential to a growing mind. No matter what field your child finally decides to enter, being creative will help them be better doctors, engineers, and researchers! I am looking forward to another terrific year at Rosa Lee Carter! |
