LCPS Update

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, the Virginia Board of Education is raising the Pass/Proficient cut scores for Reading and Mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments.

The updated Pass/Proficient cut scores are designed to align with Virginia's more rigorous academic standards and national benchmarks. The changes will be phased in over four years and apply only to Reading and Mathematics SOL assessments.

As part of the transition, families may notice changes in how Reading and Mathematics SOL assessment results are reported. To support families, LCPS has created a webpage with information about the new Pass/Proficient cut scores, including answers to frequently asked questions, details about which assessments are affected and links to additional Virginia Department of Education resources.

Visit the SOL Testing Program page to learn more about the changes, review frequently asked questions and access additional resources.
