About
The Division of Digital Experience is designed to provide immediate, on-site, technical support to resolve or anticipate digital challenges; serve as a communication conduit to advocate and collaborate between the central office and school sites; and facilitate the effortless purchase of technology items for schools, departments, and the LCPS community. Our division provides enterprise-level technology support professionals, who facilitate the resolution of even the most complex digital challenge, which allows district staff the ability to focus on delivering the finest technology-enabled educational experience possible. This Division consists of two distinct teams aligned to support the goal of providing an exceptional digital experience for all stakeholders by reducing the number of technology failures and minimizing the instructional downtime due to technology failure. Digital Experience includes the organizational units below:
Technology Acquisitions: Responsible for the efficient processing all departmental purchases while ensuring all financial best practices and procurement processes are followed; provides detailed financial KPI and trend reporting, which enables DDI leadership to accurately manage their respective budgets; creates and maintains the process and documentation necessary to develop a complex multi-million-dollar technology budget; and understands LCPS technology needs to ensure technology assets are stocked, available for deployment, and ultimately disposed of appropriately.
Digital Experience: Responsible for providing exceptional client experiences and effective technology solutions with the goal of minimizing downtime due to technology failure; serves as a site-based technical advocates for maintaining a consistent and reliable digital learning environment by prioritizing and resolving digital challenges in a timely and effective manner and maintaining an accurate inventory of all assigned digital assets; communicates with stakeholders regarding system changes, ongoing issues, and upcoming technology project needs; collaborates with stakeholders to test and implement emerging technologies.
The Department of Digital Innovation (DDI) strives to ensure that the students, teachers, and administrators of Loudoun County Public Schools are equipped with the digital tools necessary to excel. These are the three basic tenants that drive our work within DDI.
DDI is student-focused, putting students at the center of our decisions and working outward.
Technologies must be sustainable and include a plan for obsolesce.
The work is never complete. We believe in a continuous improvement cycle.
Technology modernization is our way of describing device lifecycle management. When staff speak of “modernizing,” it generally means the disposal of obsolete technology and the introduction of modern technology. LCPS modernization efforts have primarily focused on staff and student devices in the past. Promethean boards and projectors did not get an official “modernization” schedule until FY20.
Annually, LCPS modernizes approximately:
2,000 staff computers
25,000 student computers
4,000 other shared instructional devices
1,000 Collaboration monitors
The refresh schedules for all Digital Experience provided technology are listed below. Each schedule outlines the schools planned for refresh and the school year in which the refresh will begin. Please remember that many refresh projects will cross school years if they are completed during the summer months.
