The Data Science Team is responsible for providing the vision and direction for the enterprise SQL database environment. The Data Science Team also provides technical support for the database environments including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies. LCPS production databases offer the highest reliability and performance possible, and among multiple other systems the team is responsible for the primary Student Information System in use at LCPS. The Data Science Team provides thought leadership related to end-to end data lifecycle management activities, evaluating and recommending new and emerging data management and storage technologies and standards, and ensuring consistency between data management, enterprise storage and all other technical system components. The team’s roles encompass all aspects of data management, conceptual, logical, and physical. The team fully supports database systems located both physically at LCPS and in the Cloud.
Enterprise Solutions
Enterprise Solutions is a division of the Department of Digital Innovation at Loudoun County Public Schools
Enterprise solutions are designed to integrate multiple facets of an organization’s business through the interchange of information from various business process areas and related databases. These solutions enable LCPS to retrieve and disseminate mission-critical data throughout the organization, providing staff with near-time information. This division consists of three teams responsible for enterprise application projects and support aligned with a goal to integrate data, promote analytics, and streamline records management. The Director is responsible for Disaster Recovery Planning, Business Continuity Planning, and Data Governance for the school system.
Enterprise Solutions includes the organizational units below:
Data Science and Digital Solutions: Responsible for development, testing, and support of internally developed and purchased applications, and database management.
Enterprise Support and Analytics: Responsible for the Phoenix student information system, enterprise application support, data management, and state and federal reporting.
Records Management: Responsible for implementing student records retention practices throughout the district; fulfillment of alumni transcripts; permanently archiving student records in accordance with Virginia requirements.

Data Visualization Modeling Team
The Data Visualization Modeling Team is responsible for designing data models that support the data analytics practices of the school district. The Data Visualization Modeling Team has expertise in a variety of data modeling solutions and liaises with the backend database teams and other Department of Digital Innovation teams to deliver client solutions. The team also contributes to the creation and support of various Qlik visualizations throughout the district.
Digital Solutions Team
The Digital Solutions team builds new web applications and adds functionality to existing web applications to turn our clients' visions into reality while implementing continuous improvement in reliability and performance. These applications have a wide range of users including but not limited to students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and many departments at the Admin building as well as other locations in the county. These applications incorporate complex business models designed for efficiency and consistency. Many of these applications automate processes for administrators, parents and students that were once manual or paper processes. This automation saves time and speeds information flow, which helps administrative and school personnel achieve their goals, objectives and mission more efficiently and effectively. Many of these applications utilize staff, student and parent data from Phoenix, improving accuracy and saving time for all.
Enterprise Support and Analytics
This team is responsible for developing and delivering training related to enterprise systems to advance the goal of accurate, timely and useful data, deliver data models through data visualization techniques; integrating data with systems; ensuring data flows are continually reviewed and updated as needed; and providing data analysis solutions. This team works primarily with the Student Information System, enterprise electronic forms, parent and student portals, and teacher gradebooks. This team is responsible for state and federal reporting and manages data exchange and interface schedules, working to provide seamless implementation, accurate and useful information, and avoiding redundancy with other applications.
