Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP) services
Eligibility for LIEP (Language Instruction Educational Program) services in LCPS is determined through the state-approved WIDA Screener evaluation. These assessments measure students’ English language development in four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Click here to learn more about the WIDA Consortium.
Student results from the WIDA Screener are viewable in ParentVUE. Test scores can be seen in the Test History tab and the student's personalized score report (EL Screening Parent Notification Letter) can be accessed in the Documents tab. Click here to see a sample letter.
English Tests for Verification of Credit: ETC 9, ETC 10 and ETC 12
The English Tests for Verification of Credit are alternative pathways for newly enrolling students with international transcripts to demonstrate completion of English course equivalency in order to be awarded English credit and fulfill the English graduation requirements. Click here to learn more about the ETC assessments.
Student results are uploaded to the student's test history each semester and once in the summer. Once uploaded the results are viewable in the ParentVUE Test History tab.
Dual Language Assessments
A Dual Language Assessment (DLA) is a special education referral procedure conducted by a trained language assessor to:
Determine home language proficiency and skills,
Establish English proficiency and skills, and
Identify dominant language(s), if any, for the purpose of further education evaluations and assessments to determine eligibility for special education services.
Dual Language Reports are emailed to the LCPS staff member who requested the DLA. The school's SPED Designee and Eligibility Coordinator are responsible for ensuring the report is disseminated as necessary.
