Technology Program

Technology at Reid

Unlike "Specialist" programs such as art, music, and physical education, technology is not a supplemental class that students attend with a different teacher.  Loudoun County’s model is for technology to be integrated seamlessly across the curriculum.  Students will participate in a variety of technology-rich lessons in both the classroom and the computer lab designed by their teachers to coincide with other instruction.

Instructional Facilitator of Technology (IFT)

All Loudoun County Schools employ an Instructional Facilitator of Technology (IFT).  The role of the IFT is primarily to coach teachers on integrating technology in the classroom to support student learning, 1:1 coaching, staff development and lesson planning. However, they may also be seen supporting teachers with implementing lessons in the classroom.

Digital Experience Specialists (DES)

To maintain the many devices and the network of the school, the county employs a DES through the Department of Digital Innovation. The DES provides front line support to help solve technology issues. In some cases, this involves sending devices out for repair.
