Overview

In alignment with the Division’s Strategic Plan for Excellence, the Department of Human Resources and Talent Development (HRTD) focuses on having Exemplary Staff (GOAL 2) to ‘Cultivate high-performing teams of professionals committed to realizing our mission and goals.’

HRTD is committed to being the Employer of Choice and supporting the Employee Life Cycle, and the Employee Recognition program supports this commitment by helping to cultivate an environment where employees feel valued, respected, and appreciated.

The Employee Recognition program involves the coordination and celebration of annual awards including the Washington Post Teacher and Principal of the Year, as well as LCPS recognition awards and employee of the year programs.  The goals for these programs include the expansion of employee categories that are recognized, promote a peer-to-peer recognition system, support improved staff morale, and increase engagement for all LCPS employees by helping to create a culture of support and recognition embedded in each school and work location.
