The Loudoun County School Board has selected the firm of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) of Schaumburg, Illinois, to lead the national search for the next superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools. The Board and HYA will immediately begin the work of recruiting and selecting Loudoun’s next superintendent, which includes multiple phases of a thorough search process comprising of planning, outreach, and recruitment.
Currently, the Board is working with HYA to schedule focus groups with staff, parents, students, elected officials, business leaders, and community members to identify the leadership qualities constituents feel are most important in an effective superintendent for Loudoun. Virtual focus groups are tentatively set for February. Details regarding the times and how to log onto the focus groups will be announced in the coming weeks. In addition, an online survey regarding the desired qualities of the superintendent will be made available to the entire Loudoun County community on the LCPS website, also in February.
“Hiring the right leader for Loudoun County Public Schools is the most critical responsibility of the School Board,” said Loudoun Board Chair Brenda Sheridan. “The Board is confident that HYA has the experience and track record of success to identify and place a strong, long-term leader in charge of Loudoun County Public Schools. We are committed to working with HYA to ensure the opinions of all of our stakeholders are considered in choosing the district’s next leader.”
By way of background, HYA is one of the oldest and largest educational search firms in the nation, having assisted more than 1,400 school boards across the United States. HYA’s reputation and experience make it one of the preeminent school search firms in the nation. The HYA team is comprised of Dr. Brad Draeger, Ann Monday, and Ed McCormick. All three have over 35 years’ experience in education and are former superintendents or school board members.
