Virtual Loudoun Online Administration

Laura Hicks

Ms. Laura Hicks Principal, Virtual Loudoun Virtual Loudoun Online, Virtual Distance Learning, & Virtual Distance Elementary

Welcome to Virtual Loudoun Online (VLO), the traditional branch of our fully online program where our vision is to cultivate quality, flexible, self-paced, virtual learning.

This school year marks our 11th year serving the secondary students of LCPS. Over the years, we have grown from a hundred student enrollments to thousands annually.

As a Virtual Loudoun Online team, we will continue to refine our practices to enable our students to make meaningful contributions to the world.

The 2024-25 school year marks my twenty-fifth year in education and my seventh year in administration. I am excited about the expansion of Virtual Loudoun this year, to include our traditional asynchronous branch, Virtual Loudoun Online (VLO), our synchronous grades 6-12 branch, Virtual Loudoun Distance Learning (VDL), and our synchronous grades 1-5 branch, Virtual Distance Elementary (VDE). Additionally, I serve as the Division Coordinator for Virtual Virginia (VVA). I supervise all of these programs for LCPS, and work to support each student's remote learning needs. Please contact me anytime - Laura.Hicks@lcps.org.

Cynthia Fillman

Ms. Cynthia Fillman, School Counseling Director

I joined LCPS in 2009 when I began working at Park View High School as a School Counselor. After spending just over 7 years at PVHS, I transitioned into Virtual Instruction in October of 2016.

I enjoy being a part of the Virtual Loudoun team very much! I like the quality and flexibility our courses offer. It is meaningful to me to be a part of a team that provides alternative educational options for learners.

I graduated from St. Andrews University in North Carolina with a BA in English, and earned my M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling at UNC Chapel Hill. I initially worked as a School Counselor at the Middle School level. When I moved to Northern VA, I attended NOVA and earned AS in Communication Design. I then spent 10 years in the graphic and web design industry before my work at PVHS.

I can be reached during office hours via email:  VLOSchoolCounseling@lcps.org

Allison Isom

Mrs. Allison Isom, School Counselor

Hello! I am Allison Isom, and I'm excited to join Virtual Loudoun Online as the school counselor.  I was previously the school counselor for the Elementary Distance Learning program for the last two years. I thoroughly enjoyed working with students who have thrived in the virtual learning setting.

Before that, I was a 2nd-grade teacher at Buffalo Trail Elementary School. I was also a teacher and counselor in Fauquier County Public Schools before coming to LCPS. I have 24 years of teaching and school counseling experience in Virginia.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my husband, walking with my dog, and doing puzzles. My husband and I are empty nesters and now enjoy a much calmer life with our dog.

I can be reached during office hours via email VLOSchoolCounseling@lcps.org.
