Briar Woods, Freedom, Heritage, Loudoun Valley and Woodgrove High Schools have been recognized as 2023-24 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished Schools. They are five among just a few hundred high schools across the U.S. to receive this honor for providing broad access to transformative learning experiences in Computer Science, Biomedical Science and Engineering.
The recognition reflects the LCPS high schools' commitment to increasing student access, engagement and achievement in their PLTW programs. All five schools met multiple criteria during the 2022-23 school year, like the number of PLTW courses available, percent of students enrolled in PLTW, percentage of students taking more than one PLTW course and efforts by the school to ensure equitable access to PLTW courses.
“Congratulations to our five high schools for their recognition as leaders in STEM by Project Lead the Way,” said LCPS Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence. “This is another wonderful example of how LCPS is a national leader in education and strives to provide rigorous academic opportunities for all of our students.”
Briar Woods, Freedom, Heritage, Loudoun Valley and Woodgrove high schools are now part of a community of PreK-12 schools, colleges and universities, and corporate and philanthropic partners across the country connected around a commitment to providing students with inspiring, engaging and empowering learning opportunities.
