LCPS Update Graphic

 Dear LCPS Families and Staff,

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on the proposed adjusted arrival schedule for the 2024-2025 school year. We have received nearly 2,000 responses through our feedback form so far, and your input has been invaluable in helping us understand the community’s concerns and preferences.

After carefully reviewing the feedback and recognizing that the adjusted arrival schedule is not an ideal option for the majority of the families we heard from, we are reconsidering our approach. We understand the importance of minimizing disruption to our students' and families' routines while still providing the necessary time for teachers to engage in professional development (PD) as required by the new Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) initiatives.

We are currently exploring alternative options that will allow us to meet the VDOE requirements while minimizing impact on families. Our goal is to find a solution that balances the need for increased PD time with the practical needs of our community. We are committed to ensuring our educators receive the training they need to enhance their teaching practices and align with state standards, ultimately benefiting our students. We will present these alternatives to the School Board at their May 28 meeting.

As we explore these alternatives, we will continue to keep you updated. We value your feedback and are working diligently to ensure that any changes to the schedule are clearly communicated and supported with resources to help families adjust.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this process.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Sincerely,

Aaron C. Spence, Ed.D.
Superintendent
