Work Session
ALL in VA Tutoring Update
Staff shared a brief overview of the implementation of All In VA high dosage tutoring during the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year. Staff shared MAP conditional growth data from winter to spring and SOL data. Principals will share successes and challenges of implementation at the school level.
Department of Teaching and Learning: Instructional Pathways and Special Programs Update
Staff provided an update on the current course offerings at high schools and how the new College and Career Readiness platform Course Planner will support this work. Additionally, staff presented an update on special programs and other educational programs currently in development.
Recess Meeting
Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Leonai Gnenou and CK Reynolds, Health and Medical Sciences (HAMSci) Academy Students. The National Anthem was performed by Aydyn O’Brien, a proud LCPS graduate. She graduated in May from Florida State University with a degree in music education with a concentration in choral music. Aydyn will begin her teaching career this year at Loudoun’s newest (and 100th!) school in the county, Watson Mountain Middle School.
Student and Staff Recognition
The Health and Medical Sciences (HAMSci) Academy is designed to expand learning opportunities for students in health science literacy through a curriculum that develops critical thinking skills coupled with industry credentials, preparing students for high-demand, high-wage, and highly skilled healthcare workforce careers.
Superintendent’s Report
Highlights of the report include:
Orientation and Staff Development Conferences prepare staff for the new school year.
The Equity Institute provided opportunities for Equity Leads to meet and collaborate.
Teachers and students benefited from a partnership with Shenandoah University in “Camp Read A Lot.”

Public Hearing on Abbreviated Elementary School Attendance Zone
A public hearing was held for an Abbreviated Elementary School Attendance Zone for Planning Zones DS08.4, DN36.17 and DN 36.18.
Public Comment
Community members participated in person and virtually to provide the School Board with comments on a range of topics.
Action Items
The Board addressed seven action items:
1. The School Board approved as amended new Policy 6640, Emergency First Aid, CPR, AED and Diabetes Management Trained and Certified Personnel.
2. The School Board sent revisions to Policy 8273, Student Speech and Expression, back to the Student Behavior and Accountability Committee.
3. The School Board approved the Joint Committee of the Loudoun County School Board and Loudoun County Board of Supervisors: Revised Joint Committee Rules of Order and 2024-2025 Work Plan.
4. The School Board approved Abbreviated Elementary School Attendance Zone Change Process – Planning Zones DS08.4, DN36.17 and DN 36.18 to Sycolin Creek Elementary School for the 2024-2025 academic year.
5. The School Board approved the School Board Meeting Calendar for Fiscal Year 2026 Capital Budgets and Fall 2024 Eastern Loudoun Elementary School Attendance Zone Change Process.
6. The School Board approved revisions to Policy 7910, Reduction in Force & Deletion of Policy 7920, Reduction in Force - Classified Employees.
7. The School Board approved the proposed collective bargaining resolution recommended by the Legislative, Audit & Policy Committee.
