Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is inviting the community to its first-ever Food Show. The event will be held Friday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Independence High School, 23115 Learning Circle in Ashburn. K-12 food service vendors, community partners, and LCPS School Nutrition Services (SNS) are uniting to sample new and exciting recipe ideas for school menus and educate on available health and wellness resources in the community.
The event titled, “Fueling Futures: Taste the Change in School Nutrition,” is primarily designed to gather student feedback on comfort foods, culturally inclusive recipes, and delicious snacks so that SNS can provide meals that students love and align with current food service and generational trends.
“Food has the amazing ability to bring people together, so this event is especially important to School Nutrition Services in sharing our initiatives and showing how we are changing the future in school nutrition,” said co-organizer Brittany Palaschak, LCPS Nutrition & Procurement Coordinator.
Over 30 LCPS chefs and food vendors will share original recipes and samples with attendees, and then receive feedback through a survey so LCPS School Nutrition Services can provide delicious and healthy meals that students will enjoy. In addition, more than a dozen community partners will be on hand to share information ranging from hunger relief to exercise.
