Dear LCPS Families and Staff,
You may have heard about a recent data breach experienced by a K-12 provider called PowerSchool. We are writing to reassure you that, while LCPS uses some PowerSchool tools, LCPS does not use PowerSchool’s Student Information System (SIS), which was the system affected by the breach. Based on PowerSchool’s information, no LCPS data was impacted by the incident.
PowerSchool stated, in part, “While this incident affected certain customers of PowerSchool SIS, our thorough forensic investigation has confirmed that information related to other PowerSchool products was not affected. As you are not a PowerSchool SIS customer, your products were not impacted as a result of this incident.”
We wanted to reach out to you directly to let you know that LCPS worked actively with PowerSchool immediately when their breach was discovered.
LCPS takes the privacy of student and employee information seriously. To the extent there are any relevant developments, we will keep the community informed.
