Loudoun County Public Schools graduate Katelyn Miller has earned the prestigious Washington Area Task Force (WATF) Williams Trophy.

A former Blue Ridge Middle School Bulldog and Loudoun Valley High School Viking, Miller is now pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at Harvard College. She is the youngest recipient of the Williams Trophy, an award established in 1996 to honor exceptional leadership, vision and dedication in the fields of aviation and space.

Miller’s accomplishments highlight her passion, focus and potential in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). A Virginia Space Coast Scholar, she conducted research on polar stratospheric clouds at NASA Wallops Flight Facility. She also excelled at the Virginia Pathways Flight Academy, where she served as a student pilot and project scientist for a simulated Earth science satellite mission at NASA Langley Research Center.

As a member of Harvard College’s Students for the Exploration and Development of Space program, Miller and her team are building a satellite set to launch with NASA in 2025.

Miller’s leadership and dedication to STEM were instrumental in her selection for the Williams Trophy. Blue Ridge Middle School, Loudoun Valley High School and the entire LCPS community celebrate Katelyn Miller’s achievements, which inspire students and demonstrate the power of dedication and drive.
