LCPS Launches Family Academy to Empower Families and Support Student Success

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) and its Division of Family and Community Engagement is proud to announce the launch of the Family Academy, a new virtual learning series designed to empower families with the tools and knowledge needed to support their child’s educational journey. Running from January through May, this innovative program offers parents and guardians an opportunity to explore key topics that directly impact student success.

The Family Academy reflects LCPS’s commitment to fostering strong family-school partnerships and ensuring every student thrives. Through engaging virtual workshops, families will gain valuable insights to better navigate their child’s academic experience.

Workshop Series Schedule

  • January 23: Mapping Success – Understanding Programs, Pathways and Schedules
    Learn about LCPS academic programs, including advanced classes and career and technical education options.

  • February 27: Promoting a Growth Mindset at Home
    Explore strategies to foster resilience and positivity in children.

  • March 14: From Tests to Success – Demystifying K-12 Assessments
    Understand assessments and testing processes to better support students during key academic periods.

  • April 23: Connecting the Dots – Navigating School and Division Communication
    Learn how to use LCPS communication tools to stay informed and connected.

  • May 28: Avoiding the Summer Slide – Supporting Academic Growth
    Gain strategies to keep students engaged and prepared during the summer break.

What to Expect

All workshops are free, virtual and open to LCPS families with students in grades K-12. The online format is offered twice, at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and provides flexibility for families to participate from locations and at times that work best for them.
