Kabilan Prasanna, a senior at Lightridge High School and the Academies of Loudoun, was selected as one of the nation’s top 300 teen scientists by the Society for Science. Kabilan and his fellow honorees were selected for their achievements in STEM innovation and leadership in the country’s oldest and most prestigious high school competition.

The winners of the Regeneron Science Talent Search were awarded $2000 each and $2000 for their schools. The 300 honorees were selected from nearly 2500 entrants from 795 high schools across 48 states, Washington DC, and 17 countries. Scholars were chosen based on their outstanding research, leadership skills, community involvement, commitment to academics, creativity in asking scientific questions and exceptional promise as STEM leaders demonstrated through the submission of their original, independent research projects, essays and recommendations.

Ashok Prasanna, Kabilan’s father, said, “We are thankful for the great work of the teachers who supported and encouraged Kabilan and thank you to the school board and administrators for your great support of our schools.”
