Saketaram "Saket" Jonnalagadda, a grade 7 student at Trailside Middle School, completed the Virginia Senate Page Program for the 2025 session of the General Assembly. The program provides students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about the legislative process and develop leadership skills.

The Senate Page Program, which dates back to at least 1850, immerses students in the daily operations of the Senate. Pages assist during committee meetings, manage communications, and guide visitors while learning about public service and civic engagement.

Throughout the session, Saket and his fellow pages participated in team-building exercises, attended sessions on topics such as etiquette and financial literacy and collaborated on a community service project benefiting communities across Virginia. The program concluded with a mock legislative session where pages debated and voted on bills, demonstrating their understanding of the legislative process.

Saket’s dedication and involvement in the program brought pride to Trailside Middle School and the broader Ashburn community. His commitment to civic engagement and leadership serves as an inspiration to his peers.

The Virginia Senate Page Program offers students a unique opportunity to experience government in action. For more information, visit the Capitol Classroom website.
