The Loudoun County School Board held a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in the School Board Meeting Room at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.

Work Session

The School Board received a presentation from staff and outside experts on the retiree health insurance plan and staff’s recommended plan changes.

The School Board received a review of annual restraint and seclusion data reporting for the 2023-2024 school year.

Recess Meeting

Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem were performed by the Lovettsville Elementary School Chorus.

Student/Staff Recognitions

Jeff Morse was recognized by the House of Delegates for his distinguished service as a school board member. Mr. Morse was elected in 2011 to the Loudoun County School Board and re-elected in 2015 and 2019. He served as Chair of the Loudoun County School Board for four terms. Delegate Atoosa Reaser, 27th District, and Delegate David Reid, 28th District, sponsored the resolution.

Superintendent’s Report

Highlights of the report include:

  • Courtney Peckham has been selected as VAESP Assistant Principal of the Year.

  • Simpson Middle School Empowered Girls Club wins Amazon community grant.

  • LCPS has expanded its Grab and Go Breakfast Meal Service.

  • School-Business Partnership Executive Council Celebrates Community Partners.

Public Comment
Community members participated in person and virtually to provide the School Board with comments on a range of topics.

Action Items

The Board addressed two action items:

  1. The School Board approved the Academy of Global and Linguistic Studies (AGLS) proposal with a planned opening in the school year 2026-2027.

  2. The School Board opposed all above-ground routes of the Golden to Mars Transmission Line Alignment and encouraged Dominion Energy to further research underground options.  Further, the School Board directed staff to communicate this action to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and representatives of Dominion Energy.

Meeting Recessed

This meeting was held in recess at 10:00 p.m. on March 25, 2025, and will reconvene at 6:00 p.m. on April 1, 2025.
