LCPS Update

Following a presentation to the board at the March 25, 2025 School Board meeting and communicating with our retirees early this week, we wanted to share some information with you about the proposed Retiree Health Reimbursement Arrangement (RHRA) plan. After hearing from roughly 14% of our retirees in the last six months expressing dissatisfaction regarding the current Medicare Advantage (MA) plan, and given that the current contract expires 12/31/2025, LCPS decided to explore alternative plans. The proposed RHRA plan would be a balanced solution, providing retirees flexibility and choice, while providing LCPS consistency and financial stability.

To help address questions and to provide more clarity around the proposed changes to our retiree healthcare offerings, LCPS created a webpage with a variety of resources including a fact sheet and FAQ explaining the proposed RHRA plan. Additionally, an online information session answering the most asked questions on this topic will be available soon.

The plan would take effect on January 1, 2026, should the School Board approve these proposed changes at its meeting scheduled for April 22, 2025. This change will not affect any Medicare-eligible retiree or dependent already enrolled in the Medicare Advantage Program unless they choose to opt in to the RHRA plan.
