Academics

Secondary program offerings are guided by the LCPS Program of Studies but will be less robust than the courses available in each LCPS Middle and High School. Students will have access to all courses that are required for graduation, including enough electives to take a full course load. There will be limited AP courses, electives, specialty and advanced courses offered. The Virtual Distance Learning Program is unable to offer any dual enrollment courses.

Prior to requesting Virtual Distance Learning, each student should talk with their School Counselor or School Administration regarding the course offerings available in Virtual Distance Learning to ensure a good fit.

For students receiving personalized learning supports (IEP, 504, EL, Intervention Team), the selection of Virtual Distance Learning may require a meeting of the school-based team to modify or tailor support, and select appropriate courses for Virtual Distance Learning.

Instructional Resources - School & LCPS

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has a variety of instructional resources. The following links immediately below further explain instructional resources at the district-wide level:

  • If a teacher intends to use any resource that contains sexually explicit content, the teacher will notify the parent/guardian 30 days in advance.  Parents/guardians who would like their students to be given alternative materials should contact the student's teacher at least five days prior to use in the classroom.
