School Board

The Loudoun County School Board is the official policy-making body of the Loudoun County Public Schools. It operates under the laws adopted by the General Assembly of Virginia and consistent with regulations adopted by the Virginia Board of Education. School Board members are elected for each of the eight electoral districts and one member is elected at-large. Voters chose Loudoun County’s eighth elected School Board in November 2023 and the members took office January 1, 2024.

Beginning with those elected to the Loudoun County School Board in November 2023, members of four of the nine districts (Ashburn, Catoctin, Little River and the At-Large districts), were elected to the School Board for four-year terms, and the members of the remaining five districts (Algonkian, Broad Run, Dulles, Leesburg, and Sterling) were elected to the School Board for two-year terms. Moving forward, in accordance with Virginia Code Section 22.1-57.3:1.1, all members shall be elected for four-year terms, and the School Board elections shall be conducted biennially for staggered terms.
