Welcome To The English Learner (EL) Department

The English Language Learner Program focuses on four components of language: listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. Limited English proficient students are a diverse group of children who enter our program with a wide range of home languages and English skills. Student growth in the EL program is dependent upon a number of factors; speaking opportunities with peers, individual instruction, specifically in the areas of reading and writing, a commitment on the part of the learner to 'follow through' with homework assignments, and most of all, teacher responsibility to create fun and engaging learning experiences!  Our EL team is thoroughly committed to ensuring that all students are an integral part of their classroom community.
