Important 2025 HCA Enrollment Lottery Information:

The 2025 HCA Scholar Lottery will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 @ 6:00 pm.

Registration for this year’s 2025 HCA Enrollment Lottery Closes at 5:00 pm on Friday, March 7th, 2025.  Families registering after this time will not be included in the 2025 Lottery.

• During HCA’s annual lottery, student names and grade levels are announced.  Any parent who wishes to have this information withheld must notify the school’s principal at least one month prior to that year’s lottery.

• Letters to families SELECTED in this year’s lottery will be emailed on Thursday, March 13th. Families will have until 9:00 am on Wednesday, March 19th to accept their positions at HCA.

• Families of non-selected scholars will be notified of their positions on the Wait List on Thursday, March 20th.

Hillsboro Charter Academy is a tuition-free public charter school. Enrollment is open to all students in grades K-5 whose primary residence is in Loudoun County. Scholars are offered open positions through HCA’s waitlist process.

Hillsboro Charter Academy accepts applications for enrollment year-round. Enrollment spots are filled as they become available through the first school day of the new year. This year, open positions will be filled through January 7, 2025.

Each year, applications for Hillsboro Charter Academy’s lottery are accepted through the Friday prior to the lottery date in March. Applications received after the lottery deadline are placed in the order they are received, falling below the students included in that year’s lottery.

Occasionally, positions come open during the school year (prior to the first school day of the new calendar year); and they are offered at that time. Informational tours of the school for parents of prospective students are scheduled in the January-March time frame, prior to the lottery. Please check out our calendar or use the link to the left to sign up for a tour as space is limited and reservations are required.

Prospective Kindergarten Scholars
If you are considering enrollment for a Kindergarten scholar, please view our Kindergarten Readiness Checklist. to help determine your own child’s readiness. Prospective students must turn five years old on/ before September 30 th of their kindergarten year, per Virginia’s state code.
