Library Information
Mission Statement:
Welcome to the Lucketts library, a cozy, welcoming space where we celebrate the joy of books and exploration! Our mission is to ignite a lifelong love of reading and learning by offering a vibrant space filled with stories, imagination, facts, and fun. We’re here to inspire curiosity, support creativity, and help each student become a confident reader and researcher.
Check Out Policy
All classes visit the library every other week, and students are encouraged to check books out for independent reading. The number of books students may check out depends on their grade level:
K = 1 book
1st = 1 book for the first half of the year and 2 for the second half of the year
3rd - 5th = 3 books
Students may check out additional books as needed for classroom projects.
Open Check Out:
Students will be able to visit the library for open check out before school on Wednesdays and Fridays, 7:40 am - 8:00 am. If possible, we add additional open check out times later in the school year.
Overdues, Lost & Damaged Books:
Please make every effort to ensure your student returns their library books back on time. Books may be renewed if there is no wait list for the title. Students should bring their books back to the library to request the renewal. We do not charge fines for overdue books.
Of course, we understand that sometimes things happen, and books end up lost or damaged. If this is the case, we do ask for the replacement cost of the books. If you need assistance with a payment for a lost or damaged book, please email Ms. McNeil. We would appreciate it if you and your student make every effort to care for our library books, and before paying replacement costs..
Book Fairs
We currently have a book fair scheduled with Bookworm Central near the end of the 24-25 school year. More information will be provided as we get close to the date.
Parent Volunteers
We welcome parent volunteers to help with shelving, bulletin boards, administrative tasks, and book fairs. If you are interested in being a parent volunteer, please email Ms. McNeil.
