B.Y.O.T.

For the 2019-2020 school year, each student in grades 3-5 will be receiving Individual Learning Devices.  Potowmack Elementary, however, will continue the BYOT - Bring Your Own Technology Program.

This initiative allows students to bring their own Internet-enabled devices to school for teacher-directed instructional use.

Students who are not able to bring in their own device will NOT be left out of learning activities or penalized!  They will have access to school-owned devices such as Chromebooks or our Windows-based Dell laptops.

Internet Safety

For the past two years, Potowmack Elementary School has completed Internet Safety curriculum as outlined by Common Sense Media.  We are dedicated to continue this initiative, adding more teachers every year, who are certified as well.

Please visit Potowmack's Technology page for more details.

How do I get started?

Some examples of devices that we recommend are:

  • laptops

  • notebooks

  • tablets

  • iPads with attachable keyboard

Cell phones are NOT allowed in school for BYOT activities.

Through our LCPSgo website (On Chromebooks or PCs), or the ClassLink app  (for iOS or Android devices), students have access to a wealth of resources.  GoogleStuite and Microsoft Office 365 are available for free.  These are great cloud based resources to aid in accessing resources and work from anywhere.
