Mr. John Tuck

I am very excited to be entering my third year as the principal at Sully Elementary School!  It is an honor to serve the Sully community.  I look forward to working closely with the staff, students, families, and community to create an environment where all students are able to thrive and develop a love for learning.  

Prior to coming to Sully, I served as a 5th grade teacher at Rolling Ridge for five years prior to serving as the assistant principal for 5 years.  While teaching at Rolling Ridge, I was named the 2016 Loudoun County Teacher of the Year.  Prior to coming to Rolling Ridge, I taught three years at Cumberland Elementary in Cumberland County, VA as a reading teacher and one year at Bacon District Elementary in Charlotte County, VA as a science teacher.  While teaching at Bacon District Elementary, I was named the Elementary School Teacher of the Year in Charlotte County.  Quality instruction is at the core of everything that I believe about education.  I look forward to working with the school community to ensure that the needs of every student at Sully are met this school year.

My educational experience includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education from Bridgewater College and a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Administration and Supervision from Shenandoah University.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife Layne, who teaches at Ashburn Elementary, and my daughters Harper, Kennedy, and Bailey.  I also enjoy watching movies, hunting, and watching the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Orioles play.

Mr. Jeffrey Mayer

To the Sully Family, 

My name is Jeff Mayer, and I am very excited start my 4th year as the Assistant Principal here at Sully Elementary.  

A little about myself. I am originally from Washington State. This is my 17th year in education. During this time, I taught 3rd grade in Vancouver Public Schools, 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade at Chapel School: The American International School of Brazil in São Paulo, Brazil, and 6th grade in Fairfax County. Prior to Sully, I was the Dean at Steuart Weller Elementary in Loudoun County for three years.  

I am a proud father of two boys, Thomas, 9 years old and Colin, 4. I love spending time with my family, watching sports, traveling and working out.  

For the last four years, it has been an honor to call Sully my home. I’m very confident that the 23/24 school will be a great one, and I look forward to meeting you all.
