School Counselor

Classroom Lessons

I will have the pleasure of working with every class at Waterford Elementary for classroom lessons every other week. Kindergarten and 1st grade will receive 25 minutes of instruction and 2nd grade through 5th grade will receive 50 minutes.  We will be exploring many topics under the domains of academic success, career goals, personal growth, and social skills.  Topics will include bully prevention, study skills, self-esteem, navigating emotions, career goals, test-taking strategies, transitioning into middle school, and being a good friend and citizen.

Group Counseling

Throughout the school year, a variety of student counseling groups will be offered.  Topics will depend on and cater to the specific needs and interests of our students.  These groups will be determined by recommendations from myself, teachers, parents, administrators, and students themselves.  Written parent permission will be required for all participants.  Most groups will be composed of 4-6 students and will be short term.   Common group topics may include (but are not limited to): anger management, changing families, friendship, social awareness, self-esteem, and self-empowerment.

 One on One Counseling

I am available for one-on-one meetings with students who wish to discuss any difficulties they are facing personally; emotionally, socially, academically, or otherwise.  Together, we will work to acknowledge challenges and find strategies to overcome and/or cope.  While I am always here to help in times of need, I am also here in times of celebration!  I encourage an open-door policy and love when students share happy reports and accomplishments! Students will learn (through class instruction) how to drop a note in my mailbox if they wish to see me.  I love visitors!

Social and emotional health and happiness is imperative to learning and growth.  My personal goal is to help every student at Waterford Elementary to be the best they can be!  Here’s to a happy, healthy, and successful school year!!
