 SPRING MAIN STAGE 2024!!!

SHOW SYNOPSIS

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach... and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach, among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities, but after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements. Thanks to James' quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family. The dangerous voyage is a success, but the adventure takes a whole new twist once they land on the Empire State Building.

A delightfully offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure, the creative possibilities with James and the Giant Peach are endless. Actors will love playing the outlandish characters and performing brand new material from one of Broadway's hottest duos.

A Short History of RiverHawk Productions

Since its inception in the cold winter of 2012, RiverHawk Productions has been dedicated to bringing northern Virginia the absolute highest quality shows (at the middle school level) in our entire nation.  Over our past eleven shows: Seussical (2012), Beauty & the Beast (2013), Back to the 80s (Summer Stage 2013), Shrek (2014), Tarzan (2015), The Little Mermaid (2016), Dracula (Summer Stage 2016), Mary Poppins (2017), Crybaby (Summer Stage 2017), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (2018), Thirteen (Summer Stage 2018), Freaky Friday (2019) Sister Act (Summer Stage 2019), and our grand return post COVID-19 with Newsies (2022) and then Wonderland High (2023), 2,000 students have brought audiences of over 40,000 people, full Broadway versions of your favorite family shows (all through the talent of the most incredible kids to have ever existed - the students of Belmont Ridge Middle School).  Winner of over 50 national titles RiverHawk Productions is ecstatic for what looks to be the greatest spring stage production to date!

You will forget you are sitting in a middle school auditorium with gorgeous costumes, professionally designed and engineered moving sets, lighting and sound effects from our state of the art boards, epic dance choreography, and of course the unrivaled talent of our cast and crew - this is a production that you and your family will not want to miss!

Come be a part of a tradition that has been changing the lives of middle-schoolers and their families for ten years.  We CANNOT WAIT to make it eleven.

The mission of RiverHawk Productions has always been to create an equitable and engaging environment of theatrical excellence where students are encouraged to excel as actors, singers, dancers, performers, stage/tech crews, instrumentalists, but most of all, as people.  No matter what your experience, the musical is the place for you (or your child).  Above the art, this is a place where students make strong friendships, gain self-confidence, and feel proud that they are a part of a production that is far larger than themselves.  Nurturing your child artistically, academically, and socially in a safe and energetic atmosphere has always been my top priority.  I look forward to working with your children.  It truly is a privilege.

They are some of the absolute best people I have ever met.

The honor and pleasure continues to be mine,

SHOW DESCRIPTION:

Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach is now a musical for the whole family to enjoy! Featuring a wickedly tuneful score by the Tony Award-nominated team of Pasek and Paul (Dogfight and A Christmas Story the Musical) and a curiously quirky book by Timothy Allen McDonald (Roald Dahl's Willy WonkaThe Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley), critics rave: James and the Giant Peach is a "masterpeach!"
