National Junior Honor Society

Welcome to the Belmont Ridge Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) was established in 1929 to recognize outstanding middle school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. Membership in the honor society is both an honor and a responsibility!  Students selected for membership in BEM NJHS are expected to continue to demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, service, character and citizenship.

The Belmont Ridge Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society was established during the 2018-2019 School Year.

This year (2023-24), our NJHS advisers will be Mrs. Susan Ferguson and Mr. Keith Lichliter.

7th and 8th graders, there are three steps to becoming a member of our Belmont Ridge NJHS chapter.

1. You must have all A's for both the first and second grading periods. This includes A+, A, and A- grades.

2. You must fill out an application. This includes writing a brief essay about yourself and why you should be considered for NJHS.

3. You must be willing to complete 5 community service hours after submitting your application.

Students will be evaluated based on academic performance, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Invitations to apply will be sent out in February.

We look forward to having you become a part of our chapter!

Please note that membership in our NJHS chapter here at Belmont Ridge does not guarantee membership in the National Honor Society at the high school level.
