Scheduling FAQ's
Annually, the course selection process begins in January. The course selection and scheduling process is extremely important when determining course availability and staffing for the following school year, so we ask that you please pay close attention to deadlines.
How are courses selected?
In January, core area teachers (including Fine Arts and World Languages) will evaluate student performance and data to make informed recommendations for next school year. Typically, mid-January, recommendations are automatically populated in StudentVUE.
Please take teacher recommendations seriously, and encourage your student to have a conversation with his/her teacher if the student does not agree with a teacher’s recommendation.
Teacher recommended courses will be locked and can only be changed by the school counselor AFTER an individual academic advising session has been conducted.
Students and parents/guardians can edit elective courses in SchooLinks between mid-January to early February (specific dates will be sent via community message as we approach January).
Counselors will meet with ALL students individually to review course selections and discuss them in depth along with their Course Planner and post-secondary options. Upon completion of a one on one meeting, counselors will lock individual course requests to ensure students remain on track for graduation.
As we approach December, more information regarding programming, as well as a detailed scheduling timeline, will be made available in StudentVUE/ParentVUE and via the weekly community message sent by Ms. Alzate. In the meantime, we encourage you to explore the tabs above to find out more information on what course may be offered.
