Marching Band

Welcome to Dominion Marching Titans Territory!

The Dominion Marching Titans is a high school marching band located in Sterling, Va., with a current membership of 75 students. We compete and perform at venues all over Virginia.

Our band director and assistant director are dedicated to the success of our students and committed to guiding and encouraging them in their music education and providing an excellent band experience for all.

The Band and Orchestra Parents for Students (BOPS) association, our incredible parent community, and our dedicated school administration and staff support the marching band by volunteering and through a variety of fundraising activities throughout the school year.

Go Titans!

DMT Game Day Protocol

What is the game day protocol for our Marching Titans?

4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

  • The students take to the practice field to warm up and practice prior to the game. Pre-game warm-up is required and students are expected to be on time and ready to work.

5:30 - 6:00 p.m.

  • After our pre-game warm-up, students head back to the school to have something to eat and drink prior to suiting up for the game. If the meal is being provided, BOPS will communicate this to students via a sign-up. Students with special dietary needs are expected to speak up. Every effort will be made to accommodate special dietary needs, but in some cases it might not be possible. Students who do not wish to eat the meal that is provided are required to make their own arrangements for food.

5:45 - 6:30 p.m.

  • After finishing dinner, students should suit up for the game. The DMT uniform consists of: bibbers (overalls), jacket, gloves, gauntlets, long black socks, and Dinkles (shoes). All students have been issued their bibbers, jacket, gloves, gauntlets, and Dinkles. If a student requires additional or different uniform components, those will also be issued. Students may cut off the fingertips of their gloves, if needed.

  • Students must provide their own socks! Be advised that socks must be long and black. Short ankle socks are not acceptable. No skin should be seen between the pant leg and the shoe!

  • Students must wear a shirt and shorts/pants under the uniform. These should preferably be the show shirt and shorts, but students may substitute a plain black shirt and black shorts.

  • Uniforms are bagged and hung on racks according to instrument groups. Each bag is tagged with the student's name and instrument, as well as the codes for the garments assigned to them. Under the guidance of their section leaders, students are expected to get dressed in an orderly and timely manner and to help each other with the jackets. BOPS (parent) volunteers are present at every game to assist, but are not there to keep track of student belongings, find lost items, or pick up after students.

  • Students with long hair should bring the necessary items to put their hair up for performances. All hair must be off the shoulder and in a bun.

6:30 p.m.

  • Students are expected to be completely and properly dressed and ready to line up promptly at 6:30 to head to the field. The band directors, field marshall, field lieutenants, and section leaders will explain the expectations of band members during the game.

Post-game

  • When the game is over, all students will return to the band room in an orderly fashion. Students are expected to throw away all trash prior to existing the stands and bring all personal items, instruments, and equipment back to the band room after the game.

  • Section leaders will oversee putting away instruments and the proper care and storage of the DMT uniform. All students will be expected to pick up personal items, throw away trash, and tidy the band room prior to going home. Section leaders will dismiss students when they are satisfied that everything has been completed.

  • Students will need to keep track of their own socks, gloves, and Dinkles for the season. These items and the shirt and shorts worn under the uniform are expected to be cleaned/washed after every performance.
