Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School Mathematics Honor Society, was formed in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma. We are dedicated to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school.

  • There is a national convention for students to

    participate in math-related events and interact with others from across the country

  • We reward outstanding extracurricular achievement by offering special awards, scholarships, and grants to students

  • We host mathematics competitions through the Logl Contest, Rocket City Math League and the Mathematical Minutes Video Contest.

Requirements

  • Open to students in grades 9 - 11

  • Must have completed (or are enrolled in)

  • Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 with final grades of A- or higher

  • Students need a grade of A- or higher in non-AP Discrete/Prob/Stats, PreCalculus Students taking Calculus, Math Analysis or AP Stats need a final grade of B or higher Participation in math competitions and/or a STEM related organization
