Ashley Hinkle - Assistant Principal

Greetings, Cardinal Community!

My name is Ashley Hinkle, and I am THRILLED to be Seldens Landing's new Assistant Principal. My journey in education began while studying for a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Psychology and a Minor in Leadership Studies from Christopher Newport University. After taking a job as a substitute teacher, a love for the classroom quickly formed. After graduation, I stayed at CNU and proudly received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education (K-6), which led to working as a classroom teacher for over 10 years!

I eventually reconnected with my passion for leadership by pursuing a Post-Masters Degree in Educational Administration & Supervision (PK-12) through George Washington University and have earned several endorsements, including VDOE's Teacher Leader and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I served as Assistant Principal in the 2023-2024 school year at Elaine Thompon Elementary here in LCPS. I spent my years before that serving as an Educational Consultant for top Instructional Technology companies, such as Promethean, Livescribe, & Audio Enhancement, as well as coaching educators at the division level in the Office of Professional Learning with Prince William County Schools and here in LCPS as a Division Instructional Facilitator.

At home, I have a silly Golden Retriever named Bennett who, just like our students, never fails to light up my day! I'm a true believer in teaching practices that address the needs of EVERY learner, and my motto has always been "Busy Minds, Not Busy Work!" I promise to dedicate my time to promoting deeper learning experiences for all students, caring and collaborative support for all teachers, as well as a welcoming and inclusive environment for the entire Seldens Landing community!

Kindly,
Ashley Hinkle
