Crossing Guard Appreciation Day

The LCPS Safe Routes To School Program conducted the inaugural Bike Safety Rodeo Teacher Training on Tuesday, March 3rd at Brambleton Middle School. Designed primarily for Physical Educators, an indoor bike riding course was set up to show teachers how to implement a rodeo at their school.  A presentation was given by Lisa Campbell, a licensed instructor with the League of American Bicyclists.  Teachers received an informational packet with her Smart Cycling materials, along with sample materials, parent permission forms, and other safe riding information.  It is expected more training sessions will be scheduled. School Principals are encouraged to also consider hosting Walk to School Days, Bike to School Days and Bike Safety Rodeos.
