Kindergarten Skills include:
Students will determine if a book is fiction or non-fiction.
Students will be able to locate fiction and non-fiction books in the library.
Students will follow library procedures including care of books.

First Grade Skills include:

Third Grade Skills include:

Students will use reference sources including almanacs, dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, and thesaurus.
Students will identify the elements of a story.
Students will determine the appropriate reference source to locate information.
Students will use the index, the table of contents, and the glossary to locate information.
Students will read, view, and listen for pleasure and personal growth.
Students will use a dictionary to locate information.
Fourth Grade Skills include:
Students will locate, select, and evaluate materials.
Students will use the on-line catalog to locate appropriate materials.
Students will use reference sources include almanacs, dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, and thesaurus.

Students will use captions, the index, the table of contents, glossary, and maps to obtain information in non-fiction books.

Fifth Grade Skills include:

Students will determine the appropriate reference source to locate information.
Students will cite sources in bibliographic form.
Students will be able to locate a non-fiction book by call number.
Students will be able to identify and locate various genres including mystery, historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, realistic fiction, and adventure.
Students will use LCPS online data bases to access, evaluate and select information.
Students will read, view, and listen for pleasure and personal growth.
