Hi, I am Mr. Brier.  I grew up in West Virginia. I attended both Concord University and West Virginia Wesleyan College; graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy with a Sociology minor.  I then attended Villanova and Marshall University for graduate school, graduating with my Masters in School Counseling in 2007.  I have worked in both West Virginia and Maryland with the majority of that time in Elementary and in West Virginia. This is my 17th year being a school counselor and I am thrilled to be joining the team here at Aldie Elementary.

I live in Martinsburg, WV with my wife, Charli, four dogs, Lola, Meeka, Perry, and Boo, AND one cat named Cringer (all named after animated characters).  My wife is a CPA working close to home in downtown Martinsburg.  My dogs are crazy, cuddly, and way cuter than I can ever hope to be. I enjoy listening to audiobooks, playing minigolf on my VR, and thinking up new dad jokes to share at school. Lastly, I have a different t-shirt for every day, most of them are funny!

When schools are closed, please use this resource: Student Mental Health Services to secure mental health services for you or your child(ren).

The school counselor is the first point of contact for initial student concerns.  The school counselor will collaborate and plan for supports with other school-based mental health team members (i.e., school psychologist, school social worker, student assistance specialist), as appropriate.

Aldie ES Mental Health Team

Aldie Elementary School’s Unified Mental Health Team (UMHT) – comprised of school counselors, psychologist, and social worker – offers mental health services and supports to enhance student social, emotional, and behavioral growth. This team of school-based mental health professionals works with students, families, school staff, and outside providers to promote a positive school environment that supports student success and ability to cope with challenges through direct (e.g., classroom curriculum, group counseling and individual counseling) and indirect (e.g., collaborating or consulting with staff, families or communities) methods.
